The Taoiseach says he backs plans to increase Dublin Airport cap despite Cabinet opposition

The Taoiseach has endorsed raising the cap on passengers at Dublin Airport, but he insisted that it must be done “through the planning process,” reports Breaking News.

Varadkar referred to Dublin Airport as the “main gateway to Ireland” and insisted that any capacity adjustments be made appropriately.

Speaking in Dublin, Varadkar stated that concerns about sustainability and noise levels must be taken into consideration, reports Breaking News.

The leader of Fine Gael supported raising the airport’s 32 million passenger maximum, but he also stated that the aviation sector must employ planes with lower noise emissions.

Dublin Airport has requested permission from Fingal County Council to increase its passenger capacity to 40 million, reports Breaking News.
