The trial of man accused of murdering his pregnant girlfriend has been delayed

The opening of the trial of a man accused of murdering his pregnant partner has been postponed.

At Belfast Crown Court, defence barrister John Kearney KC, representing Stephen McCullagh, said that new evidence had been introduced last week and additional time was required to review it, reports Breaking News.

McCullagh, aged 35, from Woodland Gardens in Lisburn, is charged with the murder of Natalie McNally.

He has pleaded not guilty to the charge, reports Breaking News.

During the brief hearing, McCullagh appeared in the dock wearing jeans and a blue pullover.

Ms McNally, aged 32, was stabbed at her home in Silverwood Green, Lurgan, on the night of December 18th, 2022, while she was 15 weeks pregnant, reports Breaking News.

Members of Ms McNally’s family attended the court proceedings on Monday.

The trial has been adjourned until Wednesday, reports Breaking News.

Judge Mr Justice McKinney said he remained hopeful that a jury could be sworn in and that the trial would move forward on that date.
