UK Prime Minister was allegedly in tears after she was finally forced to announce her departure date from office as Conservative MPs set a date to choose a new leader.
May met with senior Conservative MPs who form the part’s 1922 Committee, which makes decisions relating to leadership.
The Prime Minister has until June 30th to quit as negotiations continue surrounding Britain’s stalled departure from the EU which is now scheduled for October 31st.
May, who took over as Prime Minister following the resignation of David Cameron after the UK voted to leave the EU was staunch Remainer and campaigned vigorously for Britain to remain in the bloc.
This left many shocked as to why a Europhile like May would then oversee Brexit rather than another senior Tory MP who actually supported the leave vote.
Some predicted that May would be weak when dealing with the EU and would seek to sell the UK short of a full departure from the Union, and they were correct.
However, despite her weakness when facing the EU May showed super-human strength when facing down Brexiter MP’s in the British Parliament, most of whom in her own party.
Meanwhile, despite six months grace being granted to negotiate the UK-EU split in March, there are signs that negotiations are already on the rocks and with May’s departure it is likely that a pro-Brexit Prime Minister may seek to expedite the UK’s withdrawal and do so with no deal.
