Theresa May is the new prime minister of the United Kingdom having been officially appointed by the Queen on Wednesday.
David Cameron earlier tendered his resignation, which “Her Majesty was graciously pleased to accept”, a Buckingham Palace representative said.
Leaving 10 Down St, Mr Cameron said the country was “much stronger”, thanked his family, staff and supporters and wished Theresa May the best of luck in her new role.
