“They don’t matter because they’re Irish and not Ukrainian” – Government slammed as homelessness increased by a massive 16% since the start of 2022

Social media users are saying that the state of homelessness in Ireland is an absolute disgrace and that it’s purely down to the outrageous ineptitude of the Irish government.

Alongside that, they’re saying the homeless people of Ireland don’t matter because they’re Irish and not Ukrainian. Social media users are saying that if these people were Ukrainians, everything and anything would be done to ensure that they were housed.

Homelessness increased by a massive 16% in the last six months, after decades of Government mismanagement and inaction on housing issues.

Official figures say that there currently are 10,325 people officially listed as living in emergency accommodation. This includes over 3,000 children.

Successive Governments have utterly and miserably failed the country when it comes to housing, something that even Ireland’s President Michael D. Higgins recently echoed.
