Majella Moynihan candidly spoke on Friday night’s Late Late Show about her harrowing experience she sustained at the hands of the gardai – the actual organisation that she worked for and loved so much.
The softly spoken 57-yr-old had her son snatched off her when she gave birth to him in 1984 when she had just become a garda, something that the organisation heavily frowned upon because she wasn’t married and had sex and got pregnant from another garda in Templemore.
Majella’s life got better as it went on when she had her second child and managed to finally get a reunion with her first born son when he was 27.
She said that through all the pain, the light has shone and that she “loves being Majella”. She said that people should believe in who they are and not let anyone dictate to you.
Majella got an apology from the garda commissioner and Minister for Justice. Her book “A guarded life” is out now.
