“They should leave if they’re not happy in Ireland” – Very mixed reactions to state schools phasing out of Catholic symbols

There’s been a very mixed reaction what many are described an utterly disgraceful sequence of events that could lead to another attack on Irish Catholicism.

The government’s crusade against Christianity in Irish public life continues as it is announced that displaying Catholic symbols, graduation masses and visits from diocesan inspectors will be phased out for 200 secondary schools run by the State’s Education and Training Boards (ETBs).

This is not far enough though for the faceless bureaucrats of the Irish civil service who still fear that Catholic practices and core values are normalised in many State schools.

The Irish Times has reported that 200 secondary schools run by the State’s Education and Training Boards (ETBs) that were formerly vocational schools, are now officially categorised as “multidenominational”.
