Through ‘The People’s Covid Inquiry,’ families of people who passed away while receiving treatment during the Covid-19 epidemic have been sharing their individual tales, reports RTE.
The non-profit organisation Care Champions initiated the investigation as a substitute for the government’s scheduled assessment of the epidemic.
Care Champions claims that by gathering testimonies from survivors and the relatives of those who perished or were impacted during the epidemic, it is adhering to best methodological and reporting practices, reports RTE.
It also looks at the experiences of individuals who went on to look for solutions.
Up to thirty family members’ testimonials have been shared on social media in recent times.
Scary tales of mothers, dads, sisters, siblings, and grandparents passing away on their own while Covid-19 regulations were in effect have been told during the presentations, reports RTE.
Many talked about the amount of pain and guilt they still felt at the moment because of how their loved ones passed away.
As stated by Care Champions, the people’s investigation seeks to “give voice to those who suffered and died, highlight ongoing issues, and present the need for urgent reforms”.
It seems that this kind of approach is more open than the government review that is scheduled, which is anticipated to include few public hearings, reports RTE.
According to Taoiseach Simon Harris, the government-instituted assessment would include “a public element” to gather firsthand accounts of the experiences of various societal groups.
In the upcoming weeks, the People’s Covid Inquiry’s Terms of Reference will be released, reports RTE.
This afternoon at Bachelors Walk in Dublin, a memorial wall honouring those who perished during the epidemic and those undergoing treatment was dedicated.
The Taoiseach stated that the government’s study will examine the whole government’s reaction to the epidemic and “how we might do better and be in a stronger position if another pandemic or other similar type event were to occur” in a written response to a Parliamentary Question in June, reports RTE.
