“They’re out of touch” – Anger of TDs wages increasing by nearly €7,000 as Irish citizens struggle with record cost of living increases

People are furious that the members of Dail Eireann are about to receive yet another massive pay increase – this time by almost €7,000 per annum.

While ordinary Irish people struggle to feed their children or keep their cars fuelled, our elected representatives, who have consistently failed to address the cost of living crisis and indeed exacerbated it with their support for so-called “green energy policies” and anti-Russia sanctions have now given themselves a hefty pay rise.

Under the new public sector pay deal negotiated by the Government TDs will see their pay rise by more than €6,500 to nearly €108,000 per annum.

Government Ministers are also entitled to a €10,000 under the deal however, Ministers have consistently foregone pay increases such as these in recent years.

The Taoiseach will also see a pay increase of more than €14,000, giving him an annual wage of €230,000 in 2023 while the Tánaiste’s annual pay will increase to over €213,000.
