“They’re right” – Mixed reaction to Bulgaria declaring Ukrainians should earn a living and pay rent and other living expenses like other citizens

Many people on social media are saying that Bulgaria are taking the right approach in relation to how they’re dealing with the Ukrainian conflict.

As the Irish FFG coalition government plans on bringing in 200,000 + Ukrainian refugees, building 35,000 houses for them, giving free medical cards, free education and welfare payments to the same value as the Irish community, Bulgaria has taken what some may call, a more prognostic approach.

In a new twist to the Ukrainian refugee crisis, the Government of Bulgaria has set May 30th as the day when all welfare handouts stop for Ukrainian refugees.

According to TRTWorld News, Bulgaria will stop all humanitarian assistance to Ukrainian refugees in the country by May 30, insisting that they should earn a living and pay rent and other living expenses like other citizens.

Bulgarian Tourism Minister Hristo Prodanov told a public broadcaster that “We have accommodated and cared for them for three months. Now they must enter the labour market, find housing, pay rent, and live like everyone else”.
