The national overcrowding crisis shows no signs of abating.
Today, nurses at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda staged a lunchtime protest over ongoing staff shortages and chronic overcrowding.
According to figures released by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, there are currently 103 posts vacant at the hospital, but all beds remain open even when there isn’t enough staff to provide adequate care.
Nurses will commence a work-to-rule action on Thursday May 19th unless there is a significant breakthrough in negotiations.
