Thomas Martens will remain incarcerated after his bid for release due to Covid-19 is rejected

Thomas Martens has failed in his bid to be released from prison due to Covid-19.

The former FBI agent and his daughter Molly were convicted of the brutal killing of Limerick man Jason Corbett in 2015 and sent to prison for 20-25 years.

Thomas Marten’s legal team had argued that he should be released and put into house arrest due to the potential threat of Covid-19 while in prison.

The District Attorney’s office in Davidson County rejected this argument, however, stating that the legal team’s defence was based on ‘speculative evidence’ and that prison ‘does carry certain risks.’
