Thousands march through the streets of Dublin in Black Lives matter protest

A large number of people came out in solidarity today as they lined the streets of Dublin in a Black Lives protest.

The protest comes following the death of 46-year-old George Floyd who was killed after police officer Derek Chauvin was seen kneeling on his neck during an arrest in Minneapolis last week.

In the protest which began at the GPO and ended at the US Embassy in Ballsbridge, demonstrators called for justice for Mr Floyd’s family following his death.

Demonstrators chanted black lives matter before holding a minutes silence outside the US Embassy in memory of Mr Floyd.

The protest which is one of many to be held around the world comes after tensions once again have risen in the US, with many calling for all the officers involved in the arrest of Mr Floyd to face charges.
