Irish Water’s bumbling performance continues to worsen steadily, as upwards of 2,000 more people are now being forced to boil their water in Longford.

The issue arose after a ‘mechanical issue’ at the Lough Kinale treatment plant in the county.

The following areas are affected by the notice: Granard, Abbeylara, Aghnagarron, Ballynacross, Granardkill, Cartron, Robinstown, Higginstown, Carrickduff, Drumincrehir, Culleenmore, Corbaun, Killasona, Lisryan, Cloonshannagh, Ballagh Gowra, and Froghan.

This latest disaster follows the recent boil water notice issued for counties Dublin, Meath, and Kildare, for the second time in two weeks.
