Irish fans who are flying home from the Euros today are facing lengthy delays due to strike action by French air traffic controllers across the country.

Aer Lingus has cancelled 8 fights while Ryanair has been forced to cancel 44.

Both airlines’ fights are to and from France, predominantly carrying Irish football supporters.

Thousands of people are due to fly home today after Ireland’s opening game against Sweden which ended in a 1-all draw.

Passengers are being advised to check their airline’s website for full details of their flight to see if it’s still flying.
