Three men killed in road crashes in Kerry, Longford and Antrim over the weekend




Three men have lost their lives in separate road traffic incidents in counties Kerry, Longford and Antrim over the weekend.

A man in his 30s was killed after the vehicle he was driving collided with a tree in Headford, Co Kerry, yesterday, reports RTE.

Gardaí and emergency responders attended the scene of the single-vehicle incident, which occurred on the L3013 at Knockdooragh, Headford, at approximately 11.20pm last night.

The male driver was declared dead at the scene by emergency services, reports RTE.

The road was closed to allow forensic collision investigators to carry out an examination, with local diversions put in place.

Gardaí are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward, reports RTE.

Road users who were travelling in the area between 11pm and 11.30pm and have camera footage, including dashcam recordings, are requested to provide it to investigating gardaí.

In a separate incident, a man in his 30s died after a three-vehicle collision on the N4 near Edgeworthstown in Co Longford yesterday.

The crash, involving two cars and a van, took place on the Longford side of the N4 after the Edgeworthstown Roundabout at around 7pm, reports RTE.

The driver of one of the cars, a man in his 30s, was fatally injured in the collision.

Meanwhile in Co Antrim, a man in his 80s was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Bushmills at 2.35pm yesterday, reports RTE.

The driver was transported to hospital following the collision in the Carnbore Road area, but later passed away.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 779, reports RTE.
