Three ordered to pay €824,765 to 26,000 customers for overcharging

The telecommunications company Three has been ordered to repay 26,000 customers after they were charged for a premium service they did not have.

According to RTE News, regulator Comreg found the company to be non compliant with Premium Rate Services code of practice.

It is understood that the company must pay €824,765 in refunds.

Comreg states that customers who receive a busy tone or a period of silence before a call connection shouldn’t be charged.

They also say that premium rate services should be of sufficient quality as not to cause end user harm.

It is understood that the company has until April 16th to issue refunds to the affected customers.
