Three years ago, three men were imprisoned for breaking into a South Dublin home when two elderly people were inside, reports Breaking News.
During a trial earlier this year, Edward Wall (52), Martin Wall (45), and Patrick Wall (21), entered guilty pleas to the February 19, 2021, burglary in Killiney.
Because they were in a separate area of the bungalow when the burglary occurred, the elderly, who were 83 and 79 years old, were unaware.
All of the items was returned after the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard the theft of €19,800 worth of gold jewellery on Friday, reports Breaking News.
Martin and Edward were sentenced to four years in prison by Judge Elva Duffy, while Patrick received a term of three and a half years with the last twelve months suspended.
After a garda operation, the men were taken into custody at Dun Laoghaire’s Mackintosh Park.
Detective Garda The Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau’s Mark O’Neill said the court that gardaà conducted surveillance after learning about a gold Mercedes because they were worried it would be used for illegal purposes, reports Breaking News.
The court heard that the vehicle was witnessed doing several anti-surveillance moves while driving on the M50.
The court heard that as Patrick and another man entered the house through a bedroom window, brothers Edward and Martin remained in the car.
The car’s five passengers were taken into custody. The identical kind of gloves that were discovered in the automobile when it was stopped were also discovered on the road, abandoned from the vehicle while it was travelling. Edward sat in the passenger seat, Martin drove, and his son Patrick sat in the backseat, reports Breaking News.
The automobile included several equipment, such as a torch, a lump hammer, and a crowbar.
To provide access to the tools in the boot, a hole was made behind the rear drink holder. According to Judge Duffy, the car’s seller told the gardaà that he did not make the change, demonstrating that the break-in was prearranged rather than opportunistic, reports Breaking News.
