Met Eireann have issued three separate weather warnings this morning.
A status orange warning has been given to Cork for a full 24 hours. The southern coastline is said to be treacherous with a combination of during winds and heavy torrential rain for the entire day.
Motorists are asked to be extra careful as crosswinds will be prevalent on motorways.
Rainfall of up to 70mm is expected to fall across the county, with the heaviest showers along the south coast and in mountainous regions.
Very high spring tides have already caused flooding in low lying areas including Morrison’s Quay, Lavitt’s Quay, Sharman-Crawford Street, Union Quay, Georges Quay, Oliver Plunkett Street, the South Mall and South Terrace.
Kinsale town is said to be the worst affected area.
Rains will make their way right across the entire country by late afternoon.
