Thug gets community service for beating dog who jumped out of his parked car

A man has been sentenced to 150 hours unpaid leave after he was seen on dashcam beating his pet dog.

According to The Independent, Gregory Phillips was filming beating the cocker spaniel who had jumped out of his car while he was loading a crate of beer into the back.

He was seen beating the dog before throwing it into the boot of the car.

After a court appearance in Wales, he received a 12 month community order together with 150 hours of unpaid work and had to pay £300 in costs and a £90 victim surcharge.

Some commentators believe that punishments like this do not fit the crime of beating a defenceless animal.
