Thug who hijacked car after being driven to Dublin to buy crack cocaine gets jailed

A man from Wicklow was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for using a knife to steal a car and driving it to Dublin in order to purchase crack cocaine, reports Breaking News.

On March 3, 2022, Dale Kavanagh, 29, of Upper Main Street, Arklow, County Wicklow, appeared before Judge Orla Crowe at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. On that day, he entered a guilty plea to three charges: driving without insurance, assault causing hurt, and unlawful seizure of a car in Castle Crescent, Clondalkin.

Police Tom Balfe informed prosecutor John Moher BL that Kavanagh was taken to Dublin by a guy he knew in order to purchase crack cocaine. He then used a knife to strike the victim and take control of his vehicle, reports Breaking News.

The owner of the automobile noticed Kavanagh and another guy when he was seated in his car on Main Street in Arklow, County Wicklow. The owner of the automobile and Kavanagh were acquainted.

In return for €40 and gas money, the two men requested him to take them to Dublin. Their purpose for going to Dublin was to get crack cocaine.

The two were driven to a parking lot at Castle Crescent, Clondalkin, by the male. Then Kavanagh and the other man exited the vehicle and approached a residence.

Kavanagh took the rear seat as they got back in the car. Then he pulled out a knife and placed it at the driver’s neck, reports Breaking News.
