Over 200 of the US’ senior military leaders have endorsed President Trump for re-election citing his commitment to a “strong America” and Joe Biden’s record as Vice President as the two primary reasons for their support of the incumbent candidate.
The endorsement comes just a week after President Trump said that while soldiers love him the top brass at the Pentagon don’t like him as he wants to end America’s seemingly endless foreign wars while they wish to continue to wage them to keep defence contractors “happy”.
These comments were seen as some of the most scathing criticisms of America’s military industrial complex since President Dwight Eisenhower warned of the dangers of this powerful deep state apparatus in his farewell address before he was succeeded by John F Kennedy.
Newsweek reports that the Generals penned the open letter which declared that “It can be argued that this is the most important election since our country was founded,” and “With the Democratic Party welcoming to socialists and Marxists, our historic way of life is at stake.”
The high ranking officers were referencing the rise of violent leftist groups in the US who have sown chaos in American cities for months now and open hostility towards police officers which the senior members of the Democratic party have failed to condemn explicitly.
