Celebrity Big Brother may only have started and already they reality TV series has lost its first contestant as ex pornstar Tila Tequila has been evicted from house after a severe backlash from the public regarding an image of her posing in Nazi uniform in front of a concentration camp.
A spokesman for Channel 5 explained Tila’s exit saying: “Unfortunately, Channel 5 and Endemol did not know about the views and attitudes Tila had expressed in social media postings prior to her involvement in Celebrity Big Brother. “When they were brought to our attention, she was called to the Diary Room for a discussion with producers and was subsequently removed from the house. They added: “The views Tila had expressed, and permitted to remain uncorrected, are totally unacceptable and, accordingly, her continued involvement in the programme was untenable.”
The move comes after a Jewish group heavily criticised the UK broadcaster and the makers of Celebrity Big Brother for selecting Tila as a contestant who is at the centre of a major dispute after an image of her posing in Nazi uniform in front of a concentration camp was released before she entered the house.
Tequila, real name Thien Thanh Thi Nguyen, then caused further controversy by shouting anti-semitic rants and claimed to be Adolf Hitler reincarnated before she entered the house. Tila also referred to Hitler as “a brilliant artist” who was “ahead of his time” and then said she has “the same hopes and dreams as Hitler”.
The news has angered Director of Communications at the Campaign Against Antisemitism, Jonathan Sacerdoti, who said: “The British public has little time for attention seeking Nazi sympathisers like ‘Tila Tequila’.”
