Time out: European Commission votes to scrap daylight savings time from March 2021




It has been revealed that daylight saving time will longer exist in Ireland from March 2021 after the European Commission agreed to scrap the system.

Although the EU’s decision will be officially informed about the changes next week. The Irish public were accidentally informed by Ireland’s MEP Sean Kelly.

Mr Kelly who was speaking on RTE’s Seán O’Rourke programme, said the MEP’s have made their decision and the system will be formally scrapped from March 2021.

It is believed the European Commission agreed to scrap the system after a public consultation found that 84% of European citizens wanted the system scrapped.

The EU Commission also agreed with recommendations that scraping the system would be overall beneficial to people’s health.
