Time to dig out the overcoat: Met Eireann say weather will turn significantly colder next weekend

Autumn is in full swing as the past week has shown with heavy showers and colder temperatures, however we could get our first taste of winter next weekend as temperatures are expected to plunge.

According to Met Éireann, we all may need to get the overcoat out as they say it will considerably colder and will remain largely unsettled.

The expected change in temperatures will come as it will be a wet and windy week throughout.

Although Wednesday will see the best of the weather, the national forecaster say the rest of the week will see heavy rain, strong winds and even hail in some places.

Temperatures for the early part of the week will remain in the mid teens with highs of 14 to 17C expected.
