On the RTE Claire Byrne show, Audrey Buckley, a Fianna Fail County Councillor called for “enforcement” and “new legislation” to control teenagers from going to beaches near where she lives and leaving litter behind.
Many people feel that these sorts of draconian measures are disgusting, to say the least.
The councillor tweeted earlier;
So disheartening to see the total disregard people have for our beautiful beaches.
♻️I will be asking #corkcountycouncil again, to see if we can get Litter Wardens at weekends like Cork City Council.
Time to hit people in their pocket as we have tried everything else.
