Police in the Canadian city of Burnaby, have confirmed that a 16-month-old toddler has died after he was found unconscious in a hot car.
According to Global News, the infant tragically passed away in hospital afrer he was found unresponsive on Inman Avenue and Kingsway at approximatley 5:45 p.m local time on Thursday.
The tragic incident occurred as temperatures in the city reached the mid twenties on Thursday.
It is reported that the boy had been left in the car for a nine hours before he was found.
Police investigating the incident say both parents are currently assisting in their investigations, but no arrests have been made.
They added that the incident is being treated as a tragic event and both parents are currently recieving consular assistance from Victim Services.
