A man in the Philippines sustained serious injury when he was attacked by a crocodile that he thought wasn’t real.

According to the Mirror, 68-year-old Nehemias Chipada was visiting an amusement park with his family when he decided to climb into a reptile enclosure to take a picture with the crocodile in the pool as he thought the creature was only a replica and not the real thing.

Instead, the crocodile grabbed him by the arm and pulled him into the pool. His family watched in horror as the beast savagely bit into his arm.

Luckily, Nehemias managed to struggle out of the water and his arm wasn’t bitten off. He needed stitches to his thigh and arm, and one of the crocodile’s fangs lodged in his arm. He later had several surgeries for his injuries.

Nehemias’ daughter Mercy complained that there weren’t enough signs telling the family not to go into the enclosure but the amusement park rejected this, saying that the area was restricted, and tourists were advised not to enter it to take pictures, or for any other reason
