An elderly Roscommon farmer casually wandered into a hazardous waste disposal premises carrying enough cyanide to kill tens of thousands of people.
According to the toxic OAP, he had kept the poison, all 4kg of it, for 45 years. The LD50 for cyanide ingestion is 1-3mg per kg of body weight, so a conservative estimation would put the death toll of fellow county men and women in the tens of thousands.
According to the would-be exterminator, he kept the cyanide ‘to kill rabbits.’
