
A man in his 40s has died following a two-vehicle traffic collision in County Waterford, reports The Mirror.
The fatal crash happened on Williamstown Road in Waterford city on Saturday afternoon.
Shortly after 1pm, Gardaà and emergency responders attended the scene of the collision involving a car and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was declared dead at the scene, reports The Mirror.
His body has been taken to University Hospital Waterford, where a postmortem will be carried out in due course.
The car driver, a woman in her 30s, was transported to University Hospital Waterford for treatment of injuries thought to be non-life threatening. No other injuries were reported, reports The Mirror.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are examining the scene, and the road remains closed with local diversions in place.
Gardaà are asking witnesses to come forward regarding the collision, reports The Mirror.
Road users with camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, who were in the area between 12:50pm and 1:30pm are urged to share this with Gardaà conducting the investigation.
“Homeowners along the Williamstown Road who may have CCTV footage are also asked to make this available to GardaÃ,” a gardai spokesperson said. “Anyone with any information should contact Waterford Garda Station on (051) 305300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station,” reports The Mirror.
