Grim news this morning, as five people are confirmed dead after the car they were travelling in entered the water just off Buncrana Pier, in Donegal, yesterday evening.
It is understood that the tragedy occurred because the car was positioned too far down the pier. The vehicle began slipping on wet concrete and entered the water with six people inside. A passerby jumped in and managed to pull a two month old baby girl alive. The other five people drowned.
All five bodies were recovered shortly afterwards.
