A two-year-old boy who tragically lost his life following an accident in Cloughmills has been named.
Archie Tafts was killed in the tragic accident after a chest of drawers fell on him and crushed him at a house in the village on Tuesday and was taken to hospital for treatment. He died from his injuries.
A statement issued by police on behalf of the Tafts family said: “Archie’s parents and extended family would like to thank all who have expressed their condolences at this distressing and difficult time however as this is a personal tragedy for them, they will be making no public comment.”
Local MLA Daithí McKay said the community will be shocked to learn of the incident.
He said: “The news of the death of a two-year-old boy in Cloughmills is a tragedy.
“This is a terrible start to the New Year for the family and friends of this young boy. I send my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of this child at this sad and difficult time.”
