A German man who survived a late-term abortion attempt and inspired a pro-life movement has died at the age of 21.
Tim Guido was diagnosed with Down Syndrome when his mother was 20 weeks pregnant with him. Abortion in Germany is legal up to 22 weeks if the mother feels her health is in danger or psychological distress.
Tim suffered from a number of health issues from the botched abortion because when he survived the abortion and was delivered, doctors left him to die without any medical intervention as per protocol.
Born crying and weighing just 1½lbs, nurses swaddled him in a blanket before leaving him alone in a room for nine hours waiting for him to die.
Finally, medical staff provided care to Tim who was then adopted by Bernhard and Simone Guido, who were told by Doctors he would live at most one to two years.
The Guidos then took up the mantle of fighting to ban late-term abortions in Germany and around the world and against the use of pre-natal tests to determine disability. An estimated 90% of unborn babies diagnosed with Down Syndrome in Germany are killed.
The Guidos announced Tim’s death on their website stating that his death was unexpected after contracting a lung infection shortly after Christmas.
