A 45-year-old man sadly lost his life in Co. Mayo last night as he was attempting to remove his dead horse from the road.
The animal had been killed earlier by another vehicle. The man was trying to drag the body off the road when he himself was struck by an oncoming car. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is understood the man was from the local village of Gurraun.
