A 6th year schoolboy has tragically died today in his sleep in Drogheda, Co. Louth.
The Liberal is holding back the boy’s name and age as a mark of respect to his family.
It’s believed the boy, who attended 6th year in St Mary’s Secondary School in the south side of the town, could not be woken by his mother this morning shortly before 8am.
An ambulance and gardai were called to the family home, which is within walking distance of the school, but the boy was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, locals say.
One woman told The Liberal:
“It’s absolutely heartbreaking, I feel so sorry for the family. It’s a close community and everyone knows everyone. God love them all”
