Tragic: Courageous and emotional mum tells her story of how she lost her little 2 year old ‘Princess’ to Meningitis last Sunday, in order to raise awareness

In a truly heartbreaking and tear jerking story a courageous and devastated family have shown great bravery in telling their story of how they lost their precious little daughter to Meningitis.

The Burdett family who tragically lost their little girl Faye aged 2, have recently decided to share their story in a bid to raise awareness about the deadly and devastating illness. An emotional and grief stricken Jenny Burdett recently spoke to the action group Meningitis Now about her daughter’s brave battle with the illness.

Mrs Burdett told the group of how little Faye was quickly rushed to A&E after she noticed a rash broke our on her daughter’s forehead. The devastated mother also revealed that after quickly rushing little Faye to A&E at a near by hospital, she was quickly transferred to another hospital due to the fact that her case was considered to be severe. The heartbroken mother further explained that little Faye’s heart had tragically stopped when they were on their way to the second hospital via ambulance, and after being revived the little girl was only given a 1% chance of surviving.

However Little Faye bravery battled her condition for a number of days after her heart stopped, but the tragically her condition started to deteriorate rapidly after sepsis began to spread throughout her body, which resulted in doctors taking the tough and drastic decision to amputate both of Faye’s legs and one of her arms.

A distraught Jenny told the group that she and her partner were faced with the toughest decision of their lives, saying they didn’t know what to do: “She was getting tired, her little body consumed by meningitis and sepsis. We had to make the decision: a massive operation and she may die, or we let her go peacefully on her own accord.” “We decided the latter and then watched our little girl slip away. At 9pm on February 14th she finally fell asleep forever. All this in only 11 days.”

After tragically losing her little girl, Jenny decided to tell her and Faye’s story in order lend her support to the British campaign to provide all children with a Meningitis B vaccine.
