A 70 year old man has sadly lost his life after being swept away by raging flood waters.
It is understood that he was driving his vehicle when he got into difficulties around a flooded sector of the road. Gardai believe the man got swept away after attempting to leave the car. His body was recovered some time later, close to the vehicle.
The incident happened at Corraghdown near Glaslough, Monaghan, early this morning.
