Tragic: Further casualties on Irish roads this bank holiday weekend as two men die in two separate road accidents in counties Leitrim and Mayo

There was more tragedy on Irish roads this bank holiday weekend as two men were killed in separate incidents in counties Leitrim and Mayo on Saturday.

The tragic deaths came less than 24 hours after Gardaí launched their road safety campaign which encouraged drivers to be extra careful whilst driving this weekend.

Gardaí say one of the men aged in his 30s was tragically killed in Co Leitrim after he was involved a collision at Cloonchair in Mohill at around 11.20am.

It is understood the man was pronounced dead at the scene after his bike collided with a car.

Gardaí say the man’s body has since been removed to Sligo University Hospital where a post mortem examination will take place.

Meanwhile a man in his 20s has died in Co Mayo following a single vehicle collision at Charlestown, Co Mayo, on Saturday.

Gardaí say the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene and his body has since been taken to Mayo University Hospital where a post mortem examination will take place.
