Gardaí in Co Cork have confirmed that a man aged in his 50s has sadly died following a house fire in the early hours of Saturday morning.
It is understood the 59 year old man died in the fire which occurred at a house in Drimoleague in west Cork.
Gardaí say emergency services were alerted to the incident which occurred at approximately 12:45am this morning at the premises on High Street in the village.
A number of attempts were made by emergency personnel to rescue the man but sadly he died at the scene.
Gardaí say they are investigating the incident but they believe the cause of the fire is not suspicious.
