There was some tragic new announced late last nights as the HSE confirmed that a young child has died from the flu at an unnamed Dublin hospital.
It has been reported that the child sadly lost his battle for life after contracting the H1N1 strain of influenza which was responsible for the 2009 swine flu outbreak. Sources say the young child who has not been named but understood to have been from the west of Ireland had been transferred to Dublin for treatment earlier this week.
The news of the young child’s tragic passing takes this year flu death toll to nine this winter.
