4-yr-old Gavin Glynn from Greystones in Wicklow has died after a long tough battle with cancer.
The little boy became well known through a fundraising effort his parents started to raise money for treatment in America. He constantly wore a Superman outfit when he had his surgeries, and thus became known as a little super hero by many.
His parents John and Jayne Glynn managed to raise €350,000 in order for the boy to receive treatment. Initially it went well, but complications led to further surgeries and a complete return of the cancer.
His parents posted a message on the boys fundraising Facebook page.
An abbreviated version read: “Rest in peace our beautiful baby. You will always be our superman. Fly high buddy, we all love you so much xxxx”
The boy passed away surrounded by his family. There has already been a public outpouring of grief on social media. Funeral details have not been made public.
