Gardaí in Cork have sadly confirmed that a man who was assaulted in the city centre six weeks ago has sadly passed away in hospital.
In an announcement made on Friday, Gardai confirmed that the 40-year-old man named as James Duncan sadly passed away due to the extent of his injuries.
It is understood that Mr Duncan was left in a coma after being assaulted on Patrick’s Street on September 12th.
Gardaí had previously arrested a 46-year-old man in connection with the incident, however he was later released from custody.
They added that a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
