According to reports in the UK a body has been discovered which is thought to be that of missing 13 year old Amber Peat.
Police say they are not treating the young girl’s death as suspicious and also say the 13-year-old’s family have been informed although no formal identification has taken place yet. The discovery was made yesterday evening in an area of Mansfield in the north of England, police officers are currently carrying out an forensic examination of the scene.
Nottinghamshire Police have since released a statement saying: “Amber’s family has been informed and we ask that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time. “Officers are at the scene in Mansfield and inquiries are on-going. No formal identification has yet taken place”. The death is not being treated as suspicious.
It is believed that the 13-year-old left home at approximately 5.30pm on Saturday evening after a “minor disagreement” over chores. Police say the family had just returned from a holiday in Holywell Bay in Cornwall, which was described as “fantastic”.
