There was some sad news announced in the past few hours as rescue teams in Co Galway have confirmed they have discovered the body of a man whilst searching for a missing fisherman.
Although it has not been confirmed if the man’s remains are that of the missing fisherman, RNLI rescue crews in the area have said their operations have been stood down until a post mortem examination takes place later today.
It is understood the man’s body was discovered on the shoreline in Oranmore Bay.
The discovery comes less than 24 hours after the man who went sailing was reported missing.
A spokesperson for the Irish Coast Guard said the man’s body was found about five nautical miles east of where the man’s fishing boat was discovered this morning.
