John Lynch aged 45, drowned on Friday evening when he tried to save his partner Kevin Devine from drowning.
The pair were swimming in Crete at 5:40pm when Kevin got into difficulty and John tried in vain to save him. The pair subsequently were dragged down by the current and were drowned.
Mr Devine’s family issued an emotional statement last night.
“Kevin was the second eldest of our children and was beloved by his brothers and sisters”.
“He loved to travel, music and discovering new bands. He will be sadly missed by all he knew him”.
The men’s bodies will be transferred home later this week
