Transdev fights back: Luas drivers won’t get paid if they don’t go to work

The ongoing Luas row over pay and conditions has today entered a dramatic stage, as the company operating the tram network, Transdev, has issued a protective notice to all the drivers.

This essentially means that drivers may lose their jobs, or at the very least have some pay docked, if they refuse to perform their contractual duties.

Talks between unions and Transdev broke down without agreement once again, and sources within Transdev have stated that there is no point in talking again, as both sides are fundamentally opposed to each other’s proposals.

Eight more days of industrial action loom, unless either side gives in.
