A transgender man has revealed he is pregnant by his transgender female partner. Diane Rodriguez is a 33-year-old a transwoman who used to be a man. Her partner Fernando Machado, 22, is a transman who used to be a woman.
The couple who met on social media two years ago are now set to become the first transgender pair in Ecuador to have a baby. Fernando is from Venezuela and is three months pregnant. He moved to Ecuador to love with Diane.
The pair took to Facebook to announce their special news. Fernando was supported by his family and friends after deciding to live his life as a man. Diane, however, was rejected by her family, becoming homeless. Neither Diane or Fernando have undergone surgery during their gender reassignment process, so becoming pregnant was still possible.
Diane said: This was the wish of both of us and there was nothing biological or legal to stop us, so we decided to do it. We live as man and woman. I’m a transfeminine woman and Fernando is a transmasculine man. The process to get here was complex for each of us. Knowing it’s our right, we decided to add another member to our family. “
