Transport minister current Luas strikes are ‘completely unacceptable’

The Minister for Transport Pascal Donohoe has slammed the latest Luas strikes saying they are completely ‘unacceptable’.

Mr Donohoe comments come after to the Luas drivers’ union SIPTU, claimed they are not ruling out an ‘all-out’ strike. It is thought that more strike action will come after union members rejected a pay deal yesterday; offering rises of almost 19%. Which means as a result there will be service in Dublin on Easter Sunday and Monday.

However Mr Donohoe said that needs to change: “The prospect of indefinite strikes into the future, is not acceptable. “For me the priority now is the commemorative period, and the uniqueness of this period is understood I know by everyone in the trade union movement and they need to reflect on that and lead to the reinstatement of these services.”
