A 34-yr-old man has been taken into custody by gardaà as part of the investigation into the murder of an eight-year-old girl in County Wexford, reports RTE.
He was released from the hospital just before lunch and subsequently arrested, then transported to a garda station in the southeast region of the country.

8-yr-old Malika Al Kattib lost her life following an incident at her home in New Ross on Sunday evening, reports RTE.
She was transferred to University Hospital Waterford, where she succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of Monday morning.
Her mother sustained injuries in the incident and was hospitalized, but her injuries are not life-threatening.
The assailant also suffered injuries, reports RTE.
Gardaà believe they have clarified most of the details regarding the incident and are pursuing a definitive line of inquiry.
They consider this to be a contained event, occurring within the home and involving the people present.
At this time, they do not seek any additional suspects.
Gardaà are expressing concern that certain groups and individuals—particularly those with anti-immigrant and far-right ideologies—are attempting to exploit this incident for their own agendas, reports RTE.
These parties are disseminating disinformation and misinformation online, aiming to instill fear and create the illusion of a broader threat to society while fostering anti-migrant sentiment.
Gardaà are emphasizing that this case has no connections to international protection.
The primary suspect is a resident of the UK, who has held residency status there for many years and is not an asylum seeker, reports RTE.
