
A motorcyclist in his 20s has died following a crash involving a car in Limerick on Monday evening, reports The Mirror.
Gardaà are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, which happened at the junction of the R521 and R523 in Ardagh village, to come forward.
Emergency services and Gardaà attended the scene, where the motorcyclist— a man in his 20s — was pronounced dead, reports The Mirror.
His remains have been taken to University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
The man who was driving the car was brought to University Hospital Kerry to be treated for injuries that are not life-threatening, reports The Mirror.
The junction will stay closed overnight so that Garda Forensic Collision Investigators can carry out a technical examination on Tuesday morning (April 22).
Diversions are currently in place on both the R521 and R523 near Ardagh village, with access limited to local traffic only. Drivers, especially those operating Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs), are advised to take alternative routes where possible.
Gardaà are urging anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. Road users who were in the area at the time and may have captured footage on dash cams or other devices are also being asked to provide it to investigators, reports The Mirror.
